therapie Leipzig Returns with a Record Result
Germany's No. 1 platform for the industry, with more exhibitors, more visitors and more political discourse
therapie Leipzig returns for the 10th time to continue its success story. In the last three days, 16,800 [2017: 16,100] physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, sports therapists and doctors met at the Leipzig Trade Fair. The 10th-anniversary of the trade fair and congress for therapy, medical rehabilitation and prevention once again gave momentum to the therapeutic products industry, both at the technical and political level. In addition, it emphasised its position as the industry's leading showcase for products: 371 exhibitors, from market leaders to start-ups, presented their innovations to trade visitors.
"I am happy with the very warm reception that therapie Leipzig received once again this year. More exhibitors, more visitors and more political discussions demonstrate: Germany's leading event for the industry is here in Leipzig," concludes Martin Buhl-Wagner, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe. "The outstandingly well attended opening event has shown how important professional policy discussions are, in addition to further professional training. The interdisciplinary cooperation of the health care providers did not go unappreciated. This emphasises the character of therapie Leipzig which is made possible by intensive cooperation with all relevant industry associations."
Christof Lawall, Managing Director of the German Society for Medical Rehabilitation (DEGEMED), was very satisfied with the health policy prospects for the next three years following the opening event. "We have succeeded in bringing politics, therapists and rehabilitation together. The enormous response to the symposium shows that we are on the right track and that therapie Leipzig is starting conversations between the relevant associations and politics," said Lawall. He is pleased that, in addition to the professional interest of the visitors, political engagement is also increasing.
Politics also became a topic, as the Spitzenverband der Heilmittelverbände (SHV) (German Federation of Therapeutic Product Associations) hosted a discussion panel. In a full room, the current legislative procedure for the Terminservice- und Versorgungsgesetz (TSVG) (Scheduled Services and Supply Act) was discussed, among other things.
Focus on Interdisciplinarity
The interdisciplinary aspect of the trade fair and congress was very well received. Through academic seminars, 16,800 trade visitors from all over Germany informed themselves about progressive therapy approaches and tried out treatment methods directly in practice-oriented workshops. The overall training programme was very well received by the participants.
The focus was consistently on looking outside the box. One highlight was the live surgery course on Friday morning, where two operations, on the knee and shoulder, were transmitted from the St. Elisabeth Hospital in Leipzig and subsequently discussed in a multidisciplinary context. Another highlight was the prelude to the nationwide Back Health Day (Tag der Rückengesundheit). Under the slogan "strengthen your muscles - keep your back healthy!" the ways in which strength training can contribute to a healthy back was discussed, among other topics.
Trade Fair Full of Innovation, and a Meeting Place for Decision-Makers
371 exhibitors presented their new products at therapie Leipzig 2019. The main focus was on innovative developments for prevention and rehabilitation. The products offered included the latest fitness equipment and therapy aids for personal training, a sensor system for monitoring the healing of knee injuries, modern software solutions, the Yogaboard from the start-up Strobel & Wolter and a smart-glasses app for controlling wheelchairs.
The exhibitors were very satisfied overall. Above all, the high turnout of decision-makers was commended: every second visitor is either executive or involved in purchasing decisions.
therapie Leipzig returns on 25 to 27 March 2021 The next events in the field of therapy, medical rehabilitation and prevention with a regional focus, are the therapie on tour BOCHUM on September 6 to 7, 2019 and the therapie HAMBURG on October 25 and 26, 2019.
